2005-04-09, King’s Mountain National Military Park
The Second Saturday ride for April was to King’s Mountain National Military Park, South Carolina just across the state line from the town of King’s Mountain, North Carolina.
The weather didn’t look too good as we started out, but the day turned into a perfect one for the group of six bikes.

Bev briefs the route before the ride.

The group quickly gets out of their jackets and head out toward the monument upon arrival at King’s Mountain.

Bruce gets high with a little help from his friends.

The obligatory monument pose.

Here’s a (sort of) close-up of the group at the monument. [Note to Russ: ya gotta make ’em sit closer together if we’re gonna see their smiling faces.]

Denis and Maggie share a personal moment.
We hiked a mile and a half at the battlefield. The return route was via Lake Lure and Fairview for a total of about 180 miles.
